Home Access Program

Baird & Warner, the oldest and one of the largest independent real estate brokers in the country, and Handi-Ramp, a designer of accessibility products such as ramps and lifts, announce the creation of the “Home Access Program”.
Designed to help individuals or families with disabilities locate and modify homes that can accommodate their special needs, the Home Access Program combines the services of a real estate broker with an in-depth understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and guidelines.
Baird & Warner’s professional sales associates will help home buyers find the right home in the neighborhood they want, and then Handi-Ramp’s accessibility experts will provide free consultation and advice on how to turn that home into a fully accessible one.
“Working with the home buyers, we’ll develop a plan to accommodate their specific needs that could include exterior or interior ramps, lifts or hand rails,” said Thom Disch, Handi-Ramp’s chief executive officer. “With a minimal amount of lead time, we can complete the installation prior to the move-in date.”
“Once we know which modifications are needed, our agents can help the buyer find the right home and then build these costs into the mortgage, making accessibility truly affordable,” said Karen Larsen of Baird & Warner. “As our population ages, more and more of us will need homes that are safe and accessible and we see the Home Access Program as a natural extension of the services we offer our customers.”
